Málaga Airport to Marbella: every area, one fixed price

Every transfer from Málaga Airport to Marbella starts the same way: your driver waits in the arrivals hall of Terminal 3 with your name, takes your luggage to a Mercedes-class vehicle and joins the AP-7 motorway westbound. The toll is not included in the fixed price. Depending on the area, the journey takes between 36 minutes to Cabopino and 60 minutes to Benahavís.

Marbella is not one place. Choosing the right area of Marbella

Marbella is a municipality thirty kilometres long, and the fare, the journey time and the feel of your stay all change with the district. East of the town, Cabopino, Elviria, Las Chapas and Los Monteros are the closest to the airport, quieter and mostly villas and beach hotels. The centre and the Golden Mile give you the town, the promenade and the classic resorts. West, Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía mean the marina and the golf valley, then San Pedro and Guadalmina feel like a separate town. Up the hill, Sierra Blanca and Benahavís are gated estates with views and a longer drive.

Journey times by time of day

On the AP-7 the airport to Marbella run is 45 minutes almost around the clock. The exceptions are predictable: Friday and Sunday evenings in July and August, when the last kilometres through Marbella or along the Bulevar add ten to twenty minutes, and the days of the Marbella feria in June. Night arrivals are the fastest of all, with the motorway empty after midnight. For the return, we suggest leaving Marbella two hours before a European flight and two and a half before a non-Schengen or peak summer departure, which the driver will confirm when you book.

Motorway tips from the driver's seat

Two roads run side by side along this coast: the AP-7 toll motorway and the free A-7. We take the AP-7 by default, because its tolls are in the price and it avoids the roundabouts and traffic lights of the coast road that slow the A-7 to a crawl in summer. Between Marbella and San Pedro there is no toll section, so both routes merge briefly; the San Pedro tunnel carries the through traffic under the town. Estate and hotel addresses south of the A-7 are reached by underpasses, which is why a precise address matters more than a postcode.
