  • Playa de Levante and Ocean Club
  • El Corte Inglés and the Marina Banús shopping area

Fifty minutes to the marina, and what the last five look like

The drive to Puerto Banús is the Marbella run plus one more junction: the AP-7 continues past Marbella and the driver takes the Puerto Banús exit onto the A-7, then turns down towards the sea at the Corte Inglés roundabout. In normal conditions the marina is 50 minutes from the arrivals hall; the toll is part of the fixed price so there is never a reason to sit on the free coastal road in summer.

Once at the port the geography matters. The front line of the marina, the Muelle Ribera and Muelle Benabola, is closed to cars from the evening onwards and busy with pedestrians all day. Apartments above the shops are reached from the service roads behind, and the driver knows which barrier opens for which block. Give us the block name and we will bring you to the right side of the port.

Hotels, front-line apartments and the residential estates behind

The large hotels on the Playas del Duque and along the Avenida Julio Iglesias have proper forecourts, so those arrivals are straightforward at any hour. The apartment complexes of Marina Banús, Playas del Duque and Gray d'Albion are gated communities with a security lodge; the concierge normally has your name from the letting agent, and if not, the driver waits with you while it is sorted.

North of the A-7, on the Nueva Andalucía side, the roads climb quickly into golf estates. If your accommodation is described as Puerto Banús but sits above the motorway, the price is unchanged and the driver simply crosses the bridge, but it helps to tell us so he takes the right exit and avoids the port loop.

Arriving for a night out, or after one

Puerto Banús is busiest between midnight and four in the morning in summer, precisely when many flights land. The marina's main access road is regulated at night and the police close the front line, so a driver who knows the port takes the back entrance rather than queuing with taxis at the barrier. You arrive at your building from the quiet side while the front is still full of people.

For an early departure after a late night we recommend a return pickup with a buffer: the road out of the port is one lane and the Corte Inglés roundabout can be slow at 08:00 on weekdays. Fifteen minutes of free waiting time is included at pickups, and the driver will call when he is at the gate.

Local tips for your arrival

  • Send us the building name and the letting agent's phone number: gated blocks in Banús will not open the barrier without a name on the list.
  • Landing after midnight? Your driver uses the back entrance to the port, so tell us if your block is on the front line.
  • Wheeled suitcases cope badly with the marina's cobbles; the driver stops as close as the barriers allow.
  • For return pickups on weekday mornings, add fifteen minutes for the single-lane exit and the Corte Inglés roundabout.

Back to the airport from Puerto Banús

Return pickups in Puerto Banús are at the hotel forecourt or the barrier of your block; the driver calls when he is there and waits fifteen minutes free of charge. The drive back to the airport takes 50 minutes with no traffic, so for a 10:00 flight we collect you at about 07:10, or 06:40 in high season and for flights to the UK, Ireland or outside Schengen. Leaving the port on a summer Sunday can add ten minutes, which is why we agree the time with you the day before.

Can you drive onto the marina front line in Puerto Banús?

During the day the driver can reach the service roads behind the front-line buildings; from the evening the front is closed to traffic and we use the back entrance. Either way you are dropped within a short walk of your door, never at the outer car park.

The minivan, at €128 one way. It takes up to eight passengers and eight suitcases, and the driver still meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board.

Where does the driver meet me at Málaga Airport?

In the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, holding a sign with your name. All flights, including Terminal 2 arrivals, exit through the same hall.
