A private estate with villas, not a hotel
La Zagaleta is a gated estate in the hills above Benahavís, with villas rented or owned privately, two golf courses and a country club for residents. There is no hotel reception: your destination is a villa, and the main gate is on the Ronda road that climbs from San Pedro. The security post only opens for vehicles announced in advance, so we register the driver, the car and your arrival the day before. Inside, the roads wind through cork oak forest for several kilometres; villas are spread out and the driver needs the villa name, not just a street.
What we need from you before you land
When booking, add the villa name and the name of your host or the agency that manages it. We send those details together with the driver's ID and plate to the gate, and the driver keeps the villa contact number in case the guard asks for confirmation. Journey time from the airport is about an hour: AP-7 to San Pedro, then the A-397 uphill to the estate entrance. At night the mountain road is dark and quiet, and our drivers know the internal roads well enough not to depend on the satnav.

Is the road up to Benahavís suitable for a minivan?
Yes. The A-7175 is a normal two-lane road and our Mercedes V-Class minivans use it every week.
What if the gate has no record of the driver?
It rarely happens, because we send the details the day before, but if it does the guard calls the villa or the host to confirm and the driver waits at the barrier. Keep your host's phone number to hand; that solves it in a minute.
Is the estate road suitable for the minivan?
Yes. The internal roads are paved and wide enough for the V-Class, and many villas receive family groups with a lot of luggage. If you are more than eight people, we send two vehicles and register both with the gate.
Where does the driver meet me at Málaga Airport?
In the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, holding a sign with your name. All flights, including Terminal 2 arrivals, exit through the same hall.
