The first Marbella exit: 36 minutes to the marina

Cabopino is the eastern gateway to Marbella and the closest point of the municipality to the airport. The driver stays on the AP-7 to the end of the Calahonda toll section and the Cabopino exit is almost immediately after it, so the whole transfer is 36 minutes and the €60 fare is the lowest on our price list. From the exit a short road drops between the pines to the marina, the dunes and the beach.

Because it is so close, Cabopino is also the route where the time in the terminal matters most. Passport control and the baggage belt can take longer than the drive itself, which is why your driver is already in the hall when you land and does not start the clock until you walk out.

Marina, dunes and the Artola beach

The Puerto Deportivo de Cabopino is a small marina ringed by low white buildings, restaurants and apartments; cars reach the edge of the port and the driver stops as close to your building as the marina layout allows. Next to it the Dunas de Artola are a protected stretch of sand dunes leading to one of the widest beaches in Marbella, with boardwalks over the sand.

Behind the beach, Cabopino Golf and the residential streets of Artola Alta and Carib Playa climb gently inland. La Reserva de Marbella and the newer developments on the hill have gates and long internal roads; the driver takes the car to the villa or apartment block, not to the entrance.

Between Marbella and Mijas: what to know about the border

Cabopino is the last Marbella district before the municipality of Mijas, and Calahonda begins immediately to the east. Some rentals described as Cabopino are in fact on the Mijas side; the fare to the Cabopino exit is what counts, and if your address is a few hundred metres east of the boundary the driver will still take you there, so send the full address and we confirm the price by email.

This corner of the coast is where a lot of families choose a quiet week: the beach is long, the marina restaurants are relaxed and Marbella town is fifteen minutes away for an evening out. Child seats are free; add them in the form and they are fitted before departure.

Local tips for your arrival

  • Cabopino is our cheapest destination: €60 for a sedan, 36 minutes. Check you are not booking the Calahonda side by mistake.
  • The marina's inner quay is pedestrian; the driver stops at the nearest point and helps with bags over the last metres.
  • The dunes are a protected area with boardwalks: good with a pushchair, less so with a wheeled suitcase.
  • If your rental says Cabopino but the map shows Calahonda, send the full address and we confirm the fare by email.

Back to the airport from Cabopino

Return pickups are at the marina buildings, the villa gate or the barrier of your complex, and the drive back is the shortest we do: 36 minutes to Terminal 3. Add two hours at the airport, two and a half in July and August or for flights outside Schengen, so a 07:00 flight means a pickup at about 04:30, still at the same fixed price. The AP-7 eastbound is empty at that hour and the driver will be at the door a few minutes early.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Cabopino?

A private sedan for up to 4 passengers costs €60 one way; the estate €72 and the minivan for up to 8 passengers €90. Prices include luggage and VAT. Tolls are not included: we take the toll-free A-7 and, if you prefer the AP-7 motorway, the toll is paid separately.

How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Cabopino?

About 36 minutes for 45 km, using the AP-7 motorway where available. Summer weekends can add 10 to 20 minutes.

Is there a night surcharge for late arrivals into Cabopino?

No. Our fixed price is the same at any hour, 365 days a year.

Why is Cabopino the cheapest Marbella transfer?

It is the nearest point of Marbella to the airport, 45 kilometres, and the exit comes right after the toll section. The €60 fare for a sedan covers luggage and VAT, but not the AP-7 toll; there is nothing cheaper on our list.

Can the car drive into the Cabopino marina?

To the edge of it. The quay itself is for pedestrians, so the driver stops by the marina buildings and walks the luggage the last few metres if your apartment is on the inner side.

My apartment is in Calahonda but the agency calls it Cabopino; which price applies?

Send us the full address. If it is on the Mijas side of the boundary we confirm the exact fare by email before you book; the difference, if any, is small and the driver takes you door to door either way.

Where does the driver meet me at Málaga Airport?

In the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, holding a sign with your name. All flights, including Terminal 2 arrivals, exit through the same hall.
