A string of beach urbanisations east of Marbella
Las Chapas is not one place but a chain of residential estates along the coast between Elviria and Marbella town: El Rosario, Alicate Playa, Costabella, Marbesa, Real de Zaragoza and Las Chapas itself. From the airport it is 40 minutes: AP-7 to Calahonda, then the A-7 with exits every kilometre or so, each serving a different estate. The driver picks the exit by the name you give us, which is why that name matters more than a street.
The estates lie between the A-7 and the beach, so the last stretch is a service road parallel to the motorway and then a short lane down to the sea. It is flat, quiet and easy, and the €69 fare is one of our lowest because the toll section is short.
Pine woods, low-rise apartments and long beaches
What sets this coast apart from Marbella centre is the space: low apartment blocks and townhouses among pines, with the beach at the end of every road and hardly a building above three storeys. The beach at Real de Zaragoza and Las Chapas is one of the longest in Marbella and the chiringuitos along it are where residents spend Sunday lunch.
There is no town centre. Small shopping strips sit at El Rosario and by the Las Chapas exit, and the Elviria commercial centre is a few minutes west. If you are staying a week, a brief supermarket stop on the way in is worth asking for in the notes of the booking.
Arriving with a family, or for a quiet week
Most bookings to Las Chapas are families in rented apartments or older couples returning to the same complex each year. Child seats are free and fitted before the driver leaves for the airport; put the number and the ages in the form. Complexes here usually have a barrier with an intercom rather than a manned lodge, so keep the agency's number handy in case the code has changed.
Night arrivals are calm: the service road is empty and the estates well lit. Your driver will have tracked the flight and will be in the hall with your name even if you land at two in the morning, and the price does not move for the hour.

Local tips for your arrival
- Give the estate name (El Rosario, Marbesa, Costabella...) rather than Las Chapas alone: each has its own motorway exit.
- Complexes use intercom codes more than guards; keep the agency's phone number on you in case the code has changed.
- There is no centre: ask in the booking notes for a supermarket stop if you are self-catering.
- The beach is at the end of every road; a pushchair with big wheels copes better with the pine-needle paths.
Back to the airport from Las Chapas
For the return the driver comes to the barrier of your complex or the door of your villa and rejoins the A-7 at the nearest exit; the run to the airport is 40 minutes. Add two hours at the terminal, two and a half in summer or for flights outside Schengen, so a 13:00 flight means leaving around 10:20. If you are in Real de Zaragoza or Las Chapas at the eastern end, the driver may take the A-7 eastbound directly rather than doubling back.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Las Chapas?
A private sedan for up to 4 passengers costs €69 one way; the estate €83 and the minivan for up to 8 passengers €104. Prices include luggage and VAT. Tolls are not included: we take the toll-free A-7 and, if you prefer the AP-7 motorway, the toll is paid separately.
How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Las Chapas?
About 40 minutes for 50 km, using the AP-7 motorway where available. Summer weekends can add 10 to 20 minutes.
Do you pick up from Las Chapas for the return to Málaga Airport?
Yes, at the same fixed price. Book the return in the same form and we will collect you at your door at the agreed time.
Which exit does the driver use for Las Chapas?
It depends on the estate: El Rosario, Alicate, Costabella, Marbesa and Las Chapas each have their own exit from the A-7. That is why we ask for the estate name in the address; the driver then goes straight to the right lane.
Is the price the same for all the estates between Elviria and Marbella?
Yes, €69 for a sedan covers the whole Las Chapas coast from El Rosario to Real de Zaragoza. Elviria, one exit east, is €65, and Marbella centre is €75.
Is Las Chapas a good base without a car?
For a beach week, yes: the sand is at the end of the road and the small shops cover basics. For evenings in Marbella you will want a car; we can quote a fixed price for a local return if you ask.
Where does the driver meet me at Málaga Airport?
In the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, holding a sign with your name. All flights, including Terminal 2 arrivals, exit through the same hall.
